Walking Through Autism: Managing Advice

Updated: Apr 14, 2024

I captured this selfie in winter 2023.

🖤

Not only do we, the caregiver’s have to manage our own thoughts and feelings but also an avalanche of advice and suggestions on what we should do or research. Friends, family, coworkers, friends of friends, teachers and doctors all have heard of or know of something we should consider. From sensory toys to miracle cures, you name it we hear about it, the advice goes on and on. Even store clerks and restaurant workers are willing to share something on the topic. More and more people these days know someone with autism or have a loved one on the spectrum ranging from severe autism to high-functioning Asperger’s. Everyone means well and wants to help and though the caring suggestions are greatly appreciated it takes a new kind of patience to deal with the barrage of advice. The good news is this too is an opportunity to step into our power and ability to manage life with grace. This is a time to connect with our intuition like never before. As we practice calmly listening to those who advise us, it’s amazing how our higher self will guide us to the perfect most fitting resources for our specific new reality with our beloveds.
